I, too, am shocked at the accusations of socialism that I see many people at my college making. Even trying to discuss with them what a socialist really is, most either got offended and freaked out, or just wouldn't say anything.
Honestly, people need to grow the hell up. Almost any McCain supporter I've seen has been taking this like they just lost a baseball game. I have no problems with being upset if your candidate didn't win, but sitting there saying "we're fucked" or whatever else with no backbone, I seriously just want to freak out. THEN, we have people that are threatening to leave the country. Y'know what? If people don't like who will run this country and want to leave, they should pack up and get out. It's that simple.
Phew...sorry about the rant. I was just disgusted at how some people treated a historical night in our nation's history. Instead of truly feeling joy, pride, and optimism, they focused on their own little world.
Ah, classic argument. "If you don't like it, leave it!"
This isn't "my own little world", this is America as we know it to be starting in 2009.
Same has been said four and eight years ago with Bush by some Republicans towards those who said they would leave. =P
I honestly see little significance (He's African-American. Big deal! I could care less.) in Barrack Obama's election other than he's gonna be the 44th President of the United States. But then again, I find that the biggest differences between people are their body odors.
So you don't see the issues of what I said to be legitimate concerns? If McCain had won, wouldn't you have concerns with what he believed to be right, or things you believed to be overlooked? Come on.
I think they sound rather reasonable, and these are not Republican talking points, these are just questions that haven't been resolved in the past 3 months. I think it's healthy to question our leaders - especially those are a wild card or otherwise. I know that Joe Biden said "Don't question me or my judgement" in the VP debate, but that just perks my curiosity even more.
Otherwise, I can't call myself informed.
